This is the second installment of my little Dante move guide for Marvel vs Capcom 3, check out part one and a deeper introduction here.
Ok so this one is just plain disgusting. Second from the top we have Dantes Acid Rain attack. The first of Dantes special move cancel specials. Which sounds more awkward then it is.
So you preform the down, down-towards, towards + Light attack command that results in Multi-Lock, then you immediately do it again. Multi-Lock has that slow start up I mentioned and you need to preform the second command, which is of course the same command again, while Dante lifts up the gauntlet but before he fires it off. So a quick double fireball motion, nothing too tricky yet.
Dante will flash during Mutli-Locks starting animation, I believe they call that a Devil Cancel in Devil May Cry, then fire several of the Orb projectiles straight up intp the air. If an enemy is directly above Dante this will hit them. Spencer, I'm looking at you. But they proceed upwards, going off screen very quickly, resulting in a rain of the Orb lasers that, this time, shower the screen to either side of Dante about half a screens worth. All at once. So if you do it in the center of the screen it basically covers everything in an inpenetrable screen of pink death.
What's more you recover from firing off the attack well before the move ends, easily allowing you to move around or even teleport behind the enemy, netting you the chance to start combos if they get hit by the shower. Mixed with assists and other Dante abilities you can have attacks coming from left right and above all at once.
Much like Multi-Shot this is a highly situational move that can be converted into a combo, which in Marvel means either huge damage or death. Dantes schtick so far seems to be in creating various unique setups that aren't nessicarily hard to deal with, but he has so damn many of them due to his incrediably varied ability set that its tricky to cope with all at once for opponents lacking in experience with the guy.
Use this move to stall, play defense, setup rush ins, its a broadly tactical ability.
